Are you one of those people who are fat phobics? Someone who runs from the calorie content of avocados and almonds and never use coconut oil. Are you buying into all the low-fat yogurts, skim milks and low fat salad dressings and finding it very challenging to switch their diets to natural fats?
Dietary fat is known to be essential for neurological health, metabolism, joint health and, of course skin.
I can usually see if someone is deficient in essential fatty acids from looking at their skin – flaky skin on the arms and face. So it’s time to stop worrying about the fat content of real foods – worry about the sugar content and the preservatives added instead. Avoid anything that sells itself as low fat – it’s just a ‘packet and promise’ that in the end will harm your health.
These are the Fats that I encourage you to include in your diet:
Coconut butter, milk, cream, oil and flesh
Olive Oil
Avocados and their oil
Nuts, seeds and their butters, milks and oils (don’t cook with their oils but use them for flavour)
Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, tuna
Grass Fed Butter
Ghee
Grass Fed meats and poultry (anti-biotic and hormone free)
