No magic potions, no fairy dust, no one to push you, no one to do it for you. Just one determined foot in front of the other. Move your body!
If you have never been a fan of exercise, try to look at how you approach it, how you think about it, what you want to achieve out of it and how you can monitor your progress. Rethink your movement and exercise regime.
If you start it with a mindset of dread and fear then it will be just that. Instead, think of exercise and movement as self-care, feel proud and make sure you enjoy what you do. If you hate running, don't run - find a local dance or yoga class instead. If the gym intimidates or bores you, don't go, Find a friend and exercise together instead - go running or play tennis. If you prefer being alone get a bike and start cycling. If you have a garden, get moving in it. If you work in an office, walk over to people to chat to them rather than sending them an email or message. Get out at lunchtime for a quick walk around the block. Leave behind your car and start to walk. Take the stairs - always!
If exercise were a pill it would cost a fortune and we would all rush out to buy it, so what are you waiting for?
I know these things in isolation are a little step but movement is essential and there are many ways to gradually build it into our lives. Make sure when you start you don't build the bar too high. If you start working out too hard, causing exhaustion, injury and pain then you are more likely to give up! In our quest for the quickest, fastest results we throw ourselves into it and fall flat on our faces. It's exactly the same as the 'I'll start the diet on Monday' mentality - hardly a way to create a long-term habit is it?
So many of us feel daunted at the prospect of changing our diets. How will we find the time to think about what we are going to eat, let alone have the energy to prepare it? We feel scared of cooking unless we have the ample time on our hands and step-by-step recipes to follow. It's not rocket science, you don't need to be a gourmet chef and you don't need to spend a fortune. All you need are fresh ingredients that amplify good health. Making smoothies are easy and today I am giving you a toolkit showing you how to make a smoothie. Experiment with different vegetables and fruits, use a rainbow of colours and remember to include a protein source every time!
Toolkit for making a Smoothie: Choose: a protein + 1 portion of fruit + some green vegetables + a liquid
Here is a combo I made this morning:

My mission is your Health: I often receive many questions in my Instagram and Facebook from followers about their health.
This is what one person wrote and asked:
Question: I exercise all the time, but don't really watch my diet. Recently I have been gaining weight and exercising more. I thought I could eat pretty much anything once I burnt the calorie intake, now I am starting to feel like I should focus more on my diet rather than my exercise. Can you confirm this?
Answer: Confirmed my friend! You can't out-train a bad diet! Exercise does not cancel out poor food choices or alcohol binges. Exercise is not an excuse to eat and drink all you want. You may tell yourself that but it's not. Sorry. Eating real food and physical activity are a beautiful combination and that should be the aim!
I'd love to hear from you!
